This week my priority was to sort out my PSS portfolio so it could be handed in today and also to do internal elevations.

After speaking to one of the employees my Supervisor/Boss figured out that no internal elevations were done for a certain job and with the frustration of this guy not letting him know about this our supervisor allocated it to myself and  Ayesha so wee had our work cut out for us because it was needed to be done ASAP!

During this we also had to put all our drawings together with was done during the year and sort out our log sheets to be handed to Mr Jackson.

So that my week for you.

I was so excited for this week because it was a 4 day week lol thanks to eid being friday lol.

The thing that made me unexcited was that i had more filing to do, this filing really gets to me because your just organizing it in date order and putting them in files which is nit very exciting and it makes me tired lol.

This week i was a bit over whelmed with paper work! I was given correspondence from 2010 to sort out and file.

I had to organize file and re-file correspondence from a previous job because of an ex-employee who did not know what she was doing. Soooo i was stuck with correcting what was wrong and it was so much to do in so little time giving that i had over CAD work to do.

But thank goodness I wasn't in it alone so Ayesha and I took less time to do it if it was only ! person which gave us time to work on CAD drawings.

So that's all that's happening on my side!

It feels good being back at work after having a Two week break at campus slaving away lol, i find work to be more chilled.

So on our return Ayesha and I discovered that a project we were working on has been put on hold yet we still need to finish some drawings so that when the job has the go ahead all drawing will be done and the firm will be ready to tender.

I did a bit of admin to this work, to just sort out a few important correspondence and file them and also did a bit more changes on a projects which is in it construction phase.

So that's my week.

Currently we have a job which is in its construction phase with means we go to site now and then to do check ups, but any person can only take hospitals to a certain extent and sadly I"m part of that group!

This week i was just working on changes requested to be changes or improved by the contractor. 

so when one thing is changed so does rest of the drawings which means i had to change Ceiling layouts,Elevations, sections and internal elevations.

Other than making a few changes my week was quite monotonous.

changes, changes, changes

So this week Ayesha and I were kinder thrown in at the deep end. We were allocated  to do the necessary changes to a job we have never seen before and we had no idea how it looked or how it works.
Luckily one of our colleagues is extremely helpful and kinder took us through  the process of the building/ upgrades that were happening.

We were busy with that for about three and a half days until we got feedback on the project that we needed to get of to the quantity surveyor and  the client but wow they made a lot of changes, some that actually didn't make any sense but that's what the client wants so we got to just go with it.
The problem is that we got the feedback at about 3 and  they wanted the changes done by the end of the day which was kinder impossible  but we got to do what we got to do hey.

So that's how my week played out.

I arrive at work on Monday only to find out our deadline was actually for the Wednesday because someone had gotten the dates mixed up, which gave my supervisor more time to over think things and change them which isn't fun in our case because we're making all the changes.

So basically this week hasn't been as hectic, it was just all about making final decisions on design ideas making sure everything was draw-up correctly and specified correctly in order to get an accurate estimate for the client.

Weekend Rush

So this week has been quite hectic in order to meet a deadline to the quantity surveyor, we were so set on meeting the deadline that we we asked to come in on a Saturday... Like really now what intern wants to work on a weekend ;( ...

The funniest thing is that when colleagues are informed that they will be required to work on a Saturday the work gets done so much faster lol. I don't think I've done so many different things in one week and had to be checked and changed constantly.

I was required to do Sections, Details, Changes to elevation, schedules and internal elevations ... but some how it all got done before the clock stroke 4 on Friday and thankfully there was no need to come in the weekend, i couldn't be more relieved lol... i felt i just needed a week to recover from all that lol.

Hand in....

So this week i was working on details, plans and sections....

Unfortunately i had a 3 day week because I was down with a fever so when i got back to work i had to draw up a plan that one of my collages forgot to do up but for some reason i enjoy drawing up plans, its weird I know...

We were also getting our pss portfolio ready to hand in so there was a lot of printing going on and checking of drawings so we could get it done before Friday.

So for the past 2 weeks while Ayesha was unfortunately busy with admin work i was assigned to do all the existing elevations for the current job we are working on.

I was literally busy with elevations for 2 weeks because there were so many elevations to do due he size of the building and the design which has a lot of corners and turn, so i basically have it coming out of my ears already lol.

The thing that made it so much more fun is that i had to guesstimate heights because all we had was plans, so i had to constantly look at pictures that were taken in order to finish them, cant wait for us to get the actual measurement.

So that how my 2 weeks played out lol

Emails, Emails and more Emails

My week was full of seeing correspondence,sections and elevations....

Ayesha and I had to go through ALL the correspondence for a job that we kinder still working on and it was a nightmare looking at email after email and drawing up a list of all of it. I have never read so many emails ever.....

the sections and elevations that were being done was for the same job so that everything as done when the client approached us...

Campus Week

So this week was very chilled due to the fact that we were just getting drawings ready for clients.

For the 3 days i was at work I've been busy typing up drawing issue records and  issue slips, plotting drawings and making the necessary changes to drawings.

Spending the last 2 days of the week at campus was fun to just see everyone again. I found the lectures to be quite interesting. It was so funny to see how excited the lecture got when presenting us with work and i guess that"s what gets others excited.

Traumatizing Experience

So this week hasn't been too good, I'ts been a real low point in my life and its hard to come back from.


Monday i was attacked and robbed by 5 school guys so I wasn't at work for about 2 days since my mentor gave me the days off. i'm back at work today but not in a good place and i guess it will take me a while to get back from it but with the good support i have hopefully I will be feeling better sooner than later.


It's been quite a traumatizing experience for me since i was alone and there was nobody around to help.

So this week has been very chilled and stress free...


I've just been concentrating on turning the sketch design part of this project into working drawings so we've been busy wit sections and elevations of the new design.


Our mentor is trying to get Ayesha and I very involved in order to boost our knowledge and portfolio and i appreciate everything he has done for us thus far.

So this week i had a new experience of going to site and actually measuring up on a new project we have been introduced too.


The site we went to is very secure so nothing gets past them, it was really intimidating with all these guys with guns. The brief requires us to convert a ablution block into a kitchen and to turn store rooms into bedrooms, it seems quite dodge to me but i guess it can be done.


So this week i have been focusing on drawing up the existing plans and elevations of the current project and its been good.

Same old Same old

This week has been a normal week hey, we were quite busy but nothing really stressful.


I've just been really busy with the existing plans, sections and elevation. I like doing new things but doing existing work is not as exciting but at least there is work so I'm happy.

Site hand over

So my week has been kinder busy having to draw up existing plans and going to  site hand over.

The existing plans are for the new project that was introduced to us but for some reason i have a feeling it will be dragging out because of undecided clients and since there are a hand full of them the process will be much longer.

The site hand over that Ayesha and I attended was a project that was done before we were at the firm but our mentor took us along to experience what is like and also to see what part the architect plays in these meetings as he is the principal agent on the project.

The contractor, engineers,project manager and quantity surveys that we met were the friendliest and nicest people we met. they were so supportive towards us and they made sure that we understood everything as we went along. they were very supportive and concerned about out studies and wished us the best for our studies.

So that's all we did for the week.

So this week was quite average hey. I was busy with work yet it wasn't hectic.


I am currently working on the new project we were presented with so I'm just basically  drawing existing plans and doing sections. It's kinder tough when you don't know how the building really looks and or what windows and doors are used so you just drawing up what you think is right until you go to site to go and measure up.

The week at campus was interesting since i had mixed emotions about going back.
I was excited to see my friends but i was just annoyed seeing that sad building, its just so depressing....


Other than that my week wasnt that bad,had a few interesting site visits in the cold and had some fun moments doing it :)


i"m just patiently waiting to see what our MIP has in store for us:)

So since i had finished off the previous work i have been allocated i could start on the new project our firm has been presented with.


An overall plan, existing plans and elevations need to be drawn up on CAD since the existing drawings received are on paper/bumf and hand drawn, so meaning these drawings are ancient lol.


Everyone was allocated a block to draw up although there was a time limit for me since mine had to be finished off before my week away to campus, and thus i worked hard and finished it before the end of the day:)

So this week just just about finishing off drawings so that i will be able to start on the new project we have been allocated.


I had to clean up a few elevations and just finish off the ceiling layout i was working on.
I wasn't too sure if the ceiling layout was done so that is why i spent more time on it, but when i spoke to my supervisor about it he said it was well done since i had to put in light fittings too. 
I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders when i heard that.:)


but other than that things are going well here, I'm enjoying every minute of my time spent here.

I am happy to say that this past week went well and the projects at work are finally moving along, we have also received a new project and this will be keeping us busy. I have been working on my first ceiling layout this week and I'm hap to say that I'm learning new things each day. I'm excited to start working on this new project as we will need to measure up and survey the site and draw up existing plans. I'm relieved things have picked up and hope it stays this way. So that how my week played out. Will keep you posted ;)

So this week was so nice and chilled cause of the lovely public holidays which made it a lovely short wee : D.

Due to the fact that most companies were off on Monday,unfortunately we were not. it was agony having to come to work but i got threw it because my supervisor said we can leave early since we didn't have much to do.It"s really a pain having to wait for clients approvals and estimates and so on but at least it gives me some time to work on my project and do some odd work in the office.

This week we also had to prepare for the site handover for a project that was done before I got here.

So that means we were plotting, folding drawings and printing schedules for the contractor,quantity surveyor and the office copies.

So that's how my short week played out, although I'm not looking forward to the full week ahead.

Triple Thread

So this week I had a few thing to take care of even tho it wasn't really exciting but at least I kept busy.


So I finished off the drawings that needed to be done for the current project that we are busy with, yet we still waiting on the clients approval and meeting need to be made.


I did some more filing, just sorting out the documents that were sent and received for the current project so that things will be easier to locate.


And lastly I was helping out with the printing
for a previous project which shall be starting soon.

So this week was kinder the same as last week, a DRAG even tho it was only a 4 day week.

As we are still waiting on clients to make a decision we were still left to do some filing, this filing thing is really getting to me even though its part of the work experience its really boring.

So as the week progressed we came across unfinished drawings and which I was so happy to do, I never thought I would say this but I missed CAD. You know there is something wrong with you when you say things like that lol.

So I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and I know we all amped for the next long weekend lol.

Filing forever

So this week I haven't really been doing much other than filing.

Its really crazy to see how much paper work has to be done and to make sure to keep records of every single thing to be able to back yourself up if something should happen .

So thank to the long Easter weekend it saved me from filing for another day lol. So that pretty much what my week looked like...

Minor Complications

So this week hasn't been good not related to work but to my health.

This week hasn't been stressful but we have been keeping busy just getting some more designs off to the QS and now we just waiting for once again another estimate.

So while waiting for the estimate we have been sorting out the filing of previous projects which gives us a chance to see the process that the firm went through and also to see some of their designs.

I haven't been working all week because I had fallen ill on the Wednesday and couldn't attend work the Thursday but other than that all is well

Cleaning Up....

So last week was really busy.....

Monday we had cleaned up the office and I must say that was quite a job hey, was so exhausted after that but as we all know I am a clean freak so it was to my benefit lol.

Tuesday wad filing day and this was the first time I had filed things is the office. It wasn't actually that bad because you get to knw how they organize thing and also the long process architects have to go through with Clients, Contractors, Quantity Surveyors etc as I just read through the written documents as I went along.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were cramming days in order to come up with new designs that had to be sent off to the QS by Friday so that we could get and estimate as the original design was a lil over the budget but its nothing that can't be fixed...

So that was my stressful week...

Campus time....

So this week was very chilled a work since I only spent 3 days there and of course the other 2 was spent at campus getting crits and briefs.

So basically I didn't do much this week because everyone one was busy with the presentation of drawings to the client in a meeting that took place on friday. I'm actually really anxious to find out what had happened in the meeting and what was said...

All i did this week was work on internal elevation which an ex employee did not finish and also just update a few sections and elevation...

This week was really boring due to the fact that I wasn't their for 2 day but I actually missed being at work. I never thought I would say that but I really did hey, I guess there's a first for everything right.

The Approval

So this week hasn't been much different than last week, been really busy as usual being working on two different buildings and the way that our firm goes about situations are really eye opening. My mentor says to try to make a wise decision as quickly as possible and nt to dwell on it else you'll be changing your mind all the time and its always your clients who takes that role anyway:).

I've been receiving more work from my mentor and I feel that his becoming more confident in me and ayesha. It feels really good knowing that he trusts us.

Each day I never fail to learn something knew from my mentor. He helps us out whenever we need it and makes sure we okay and feel comfortable at all times. He is very understanding and has our best interests in mind.

We are just waiting for approval on a project they were busy with before ayesha and I have arrived and then we'll be off to more sites to make sure that everything is going as planned

Work stresses

Wow what a week it has been. It was so busy at the office trying to meet deadlines. When working so hard the days just go by so fast.

Even though work has been really stressful my mentor will always try to ease the tension with funny remarks, yet we never fail on learning something new each day.

This week I've been busy with sections and elevation on 2 different buildings. Its really feels good when your mentor explains things to you and you totally know what it is and can really follow what going on, I must say thanx to my first year lectures for that hey :). I've learned about a few new materials(well new to me) and how to work with them in some interesting ways.

Work has been stressful yet not unpleasant , I really enjoy working at Nazeer Seria Architects it just has such a good vibe about it...

Work, work, work :)

I have been working for the past month now and I must say I'm really enjoying myself...
My mentor and fellow colleagues are really a pleasure to work with since there is never a dull moment in the office....
I am working with Ayesha Jaffer and I must say its so nice working with someone u know well.

Everyone is always willing to help out when ever we need it. Each day my mentor will give us a talk on construction, detail, finishes or whatever comes to mind at that moment....

So far I've done internal elevations and sections. I've also been to site visits and in site meetings. Its so cool to know what industry is really like and also to see your name on drawing going off to a client.
